A Baby White Winged Dove Learning How to Fly This Morning

White winged doves are beautiful. Their eye expressions are innocent and precious.

A white winged dove youth is called a fledgling. Today, I saw his mom, whom I am friends with, helping him learn how to fly. The fledgling flew directly into an object. Flying is a skill you work at and don’t learn overnight.

Mom cooed to her baby. The baby bird allowed me to approach him for some great photos. Hardly normal for birds and their young until you remember, Mom knew it was OK. I’m not like most humans. I’m a cool human! if I may quote Amy Poehler’s Mean Girls  “cool mom” line. The fledgling looked confused yet innocent.

Study the baby’s eye expression! You can’t fake this “I’m new in the world” look.
